Vision

This website was created to establish an on line networking tool for the growing number of conservation and stewardship groups in the Capital regional District. The number of local groups emerging to address local environmental issues reflects the growing interest among the general public about environmental stewardship and the protection of local biodiversity. By networking, people become aware of the work being done in their community and are able to share their resources, collaborate and choose projects where there is the most need.

The Capital Region is under significant pressure from increased development and population growth. The region holds habitats and species that can not be found elsewhere in the province. The population of the region has grown by over 25% over the last ten years and forecasts suggest that the region is expected to grow by another 100, 000 in the next 25 years (CRD Parks).

In the face of these environmental pressures the importance to network grows, in order to address conservation and stewardship issues as a community. Stewardship and conservation actions are strengthened where information and experience is shared among organizations, volunteers, government and the public, for in being aware of the actions already occurring in their community people have the chance to support these endeavors and develop projects where there is the most need.
