Organization Mandate
GSA StraitKeepers is committed to providing intertidal stewardship education and leadership through the process of community science training and in-community monitoring programs.

Locations
Our work involves cobble (moderate sized stone laden) marine beaches on the coast from Swartz Bay to Sooke.

Current Activities and Projects
We are currently monitoring 4 beaches and will include more as we build our base of committed volunteers.

Completed Activities and Projects
GSA Straitkeepers Victoria has completed 5 years of beach monitoring through Quadrat Studies and is entering the data in the broader GSA database. GSA has like Straitkeeper groups working up island and in the Gulf islands.

Fundraising Initiatives
These activities are carried on by the staff in the Nanaimo office of the Gerogia Strait Alliance, and the board od directors from around the region.

Volunteers Required
: We are seeking committed volunteers who are willing to learn more about the intertidal zone and the organisms that live there. The volunteer must be able to commit in advance approximately 4 hours to monitor a beach working with a group at least once a summer but preferably 2 to 4 times per summer. In addition, there will be training times in 1 to 2 hours periods set up at times of convenience for a majority of group participants.
