Friends of Government House Gardens Society

Organization Mandate
To improve, preserve and enhance the grounds and gardens of Government House and to encourage the active participation of the people of British Columbia in their development and maintenance, in cooperation with The Province of British Columbia, for continuing public use and enjoyment.

Locations
36 acres of garden and Garry Oak Woodland located on Rockland Avenue. The Society welcomes members from all over British Columbia and elsewhere.

Current Activities and Projects
Care and maintenance of the gardens. Preservation and conservation of the Garry Oak Woodland. Various fundraising events i.e. plant sale, craft show,tours of gardens. Development of web site; and educational opportunities.

Completed Activities and Projects
Development and planning of perennial gardens, including Sunken Rose Garden, Herb Garden,terraces, perennial borders, Lewisia Wall, rock and alpine garden, plus ongoing development and maintenance with the gardens and woodlands.

Fundraising Initiatives
All funds raised are channeled directly back into the gardens and/or woodland as required.

Volunteers Required
An active interest in gardening and/or horticultural matters, or alternatively an interest in non-gardening but related activities, i.e. photography, archives, administration.
